Onaiwu, who picked APGA’s expression of interest and nomination forms on Tuesday, said he decided to change his tent because “APGA doesn’t have scandal. PDP ruled Edo State between1999 and 2007. APC is the party in government and the people of Edo are now saying ‘don’t take us back to Egypt.’”
The former PDP chieftain, who aspired for the governor of Edo State on the platform of the former ruling party, did not participate in the primaries in Benin City, which produced Osagie Ize-Iyamu as flag-bearer for the September 10 governorship election.
He dispelled the claim that APGA is an Igbo party, stressing that the party won elections in Abuja, Bayelsa and Taraba States.
Onaiwu said he was motivated to join APGA because of what Governor Willie Obiano is doing in Anambra State, adding that the major thrust of his government would be to industrialise Edo State if elected.
Meanwhile, an FCT High Court has ordered the service of processes on the PDP Governors’ Forum over the non-payment of rent for its offices in Abuja.
Justice Charles Agbaza has also granted the application to paste the papers at the offices at on No 2 Nana Close, off Nile Street, Maitama, Abuja.
Naito Properties Company Ltd, the managers of the property used as offices of the PDP Governors’ Forum, has also sued Earl Osaro Onaiwu, the former DG of the PDP, over the non-payment of one year and one month arrears of the rent of the office valued at N28 million.
