Benin traditionanl council warns against dragging Oba into politics...Read It All On Tafia World

 The Benin Traditional Council (BTC) has warned palace chiefs against dragging the name of the Oba of Benin into politics, describing the attitude of some chiefs who went to the villages campaigning for one of the governorship candidates, claiming that it was an instruction from the palace of the Oba as unacceptable.
The BTC also warned that no Enogie in the Kingdom should be referred to as a monarch but His Royal Highness asserting that the title of His Royal Majesty is only for the Oba of Benin.
Benin traditional council warns against dragging Oba into politicsIn a statement signed by...read it here... the secretary of the BTC, Frank Irabor, it said, “We will like to state emphatically what has been repeatedly stated by His Royal Highness, Crown Prince (Amb) Ehenede Erediauwa, Edaiken N’Uselu, that the Benin monarch is non-partisan.
 
“The prayer Omo N’Oba Erediauwa left for us as a legacy regarding gubernatorial elections is that we should always pray to God and our ancestors to give us a governor that will develop the state, provide food for the people and accord respect to traditional rulers.
“Benin Chiefs have different political affiliations. Statements emanating from them are therefore not necessarily on behalf of palace of the Oba of Benin. It has been brought to the attention of BTC that rumour mills has it that chiefs are going round villages to campaign for a particular candidate.”
