REVISITING THE RECENT IPOB (INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF BIAFRA) AGITATORS FROM ONITSHA AND RIPPLES IN ASABA, DELTA STATE CAPITAL!

A DESTRUCTIVE FALLACY OR MEANINGLESS SHENENIGAN ON ALUTA??
“Every man has a right to decide his own destiny, and in his judgment there’s no partiality….”recalling one of the greatest track amongst the hit songs of late Bob Nesta Marley. Of course, the Boko Harams currently creating waves on the borderlines of some towns in our Northern part of Nigeria, have collectively or individually “decided their own destiny” as members of this group. Also within the South South regions here, people are agitating for their rights to the oil fields nature has bestowed on them and it’s difficult to judge them wrongly for deciding on their destiny….no wahala about it anyway! But this constant incursion of the supposedly MASSOB (Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra) now adorning another tag IPOB (Indigenous People Of Biafra) into Asaba, the Delta state capital is becoming truly very worrisome. It suggests that Asaba people as a community housing the capital of Delta state DOES NOT have a right to decide her own destiny!
An interesting aspect of the IPOBers as a group or persons is the  read more... tendency to recruit their membership across the borderline coming from the eastern part of the river Niger and sneaking into Asaba to CONTINUE the agitation! It is equally alleged that the same tactics was adopted by the Boko haram members in the recruitment of their membership mostly from our neighboring countries. Nevertheless, the sad thing about the movement and activities of the IPOB is their limitations which made them VERY UNPOPULAR amongst the people they sought to project and represent. Otherwise, how can it be explained of a movement initiated, planned and directed from Onitsha, a commercial city in Anambra state that eventually ends up in the same Onitisha without spreading to other eastern cities? For some yet unknown reasons, the agitators in the ganging up IPOB, conveniently opted to avoid their demonstrations cum agitation in known eastern state capitals like Awka, Owerri, Enugu, Umuahia etc. So why the preference of Onitsha with the ripples reechoed in Asaba?
As a community and people, the Asaba of people have the right to DECIDE their own destiny of where to belong in the geography of Nigeria. It would be recalled that this same Asaba, and some of her neighboring Anioma communities experienced the greatest massacre in the last Nigerian/Biafran war with issues yet to be addressed by any government in Nigeria as they changed batons. Though no one has implied for “war” in the ongoing IPOB agitation, but the possibilities are not farfetched. Obviously, every time by hook or crook means such demonstration occurs in Onitisha, businesses are shut down turning the commercial city into a ghost town and the ripples are felt in the neighboring capital city Asaba with anxiety. Asaba community cannot be impartial in our decisions while judging ourselves, thus IPOB should please leave us alone for now!
