My name is Jennifer Okuro Efemonghe, 20 years old and a student of banking and finance at the University of Benin, Benin city, Edo state, Nigeria.
I believe in independency and hardwork, which is why I don't wait on my parents or depend on them for my everyday needs which includes my school fees and bills, textbooks, course materials and my feeding.
I finished from secondary school by May 2016 and ever since then, I've been working as a sales girl at the popularly known market of Katangua which is situated along the Lagos- Ibadan express way , Abule egba, Lagos State of Nigeria, till right now 2021.
I would always pay half of every exam fee while my parents would add the remaining half.

So I went in search of jobs and I stumbled on a construction site which was at the backyard of where I was squatting.
At first ,the site engineer wouldn't let me work cause he felt that I wouldn't or couldn't do anything because I'm a girl. I persuaded and pleaded with him to allow me and he eventually did. So I was asked to resume the next day, which I did and was paid a sum of four thousand naira after carrying twelve headpans of sand, twelve headpans of granite, some buckets of water and over twenty headpans of concrete from the first floor to the third floor.
I was really happy that I got paid that much and so I kept going there until school resumed and I had to stop.
During one of the days at the site I took some pictures and posted them on my Twitter page and captioned it ' Aside being a student' , with the intention of showcasing my side hustle and non
