Sokoto To Feed One Million Students With N5.4bn...Read It All On Tafia World

Sokoto State Government says it has earmarked over N5.4bn to feed no fewer than one million students in its primary and secondary schools in 2017.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Alhaji Mainasara Ahmed, on Thursday said, “These pupils and students are currently studying in both boarding and non-boarding schools across the 23 local government areas in the state.
“This money also includes the homegrown school feeding programme to be jointly undertaken by both the federal and state governments.
“The gesture is aimed at shoring up students’ enrolment, retention, and completion, especially girl child education.”
He spoke at a three-day workshop organized by a USAID-assisted Leadership, Empowerment, Advocacy and Development (LEAD) Project being implemented in Sokoto and Bauchi States.

Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, has said that the president will not speak to Nigerians as he has a right to his vacation.
The president’s extended vacation in the UK has caused a stir in the country with many speculating about his state of health.
The Senate president, Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, were the latest people to visit the President in UK although many have urged him to speak with Nigerians to dispel rumour about his state of health.
Adesina, who appeared on a show on TVC, on Thursday, said the president has a right to his vacation and there was no need to intrude.On the issue of the president’s health, he said: “It is a matter of opinion and that those who say are welcome to their opinion as there are some people who don’t want to believe the word of other people and no matter what you say or do you have not done it well hence you leave them to their opinion.”
“If Buhari will speak to Nigerians it will be his choice, his prerogative. We don’t need to intrude. What some people want to do is to ram it down his throat willy-nilly. It is a point of principle that Buhari is not speaking to Nigerians.”

Housewife bags 7 months imprisonment for converting friend’s N100,000...Read It All On Tafia World

A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Thursday sentenced a housewife, Gift Benjamin, 41, to seven months imprisonment for converting her friend’s N100, 000 to personal use.
Benjamin, a resident of Abattoir area of Jos borrowed the amount from her friend and did not pay back.
She faced a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and theft, punishable under sections 317 and 322 of the penal code.
The Magistrate, Mrs Helen Danboyi, gave the sentence after the accused pleaded guilty to the charges and begged the court for mercy.

Biafra: Buhari has influenced ECOWAS Court to ignore Kanu’s case – IPOBThe Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has expressed disappointment over the handling of its case against the Nigerian government by the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS. IPOB said the inability of the court to rule on the release of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu was disappointing.
