Presidency to miss Oct 31 presentation of budget to Senate...Read It All On Tafia World

Presidency’s hope of presenting the N6.86 trillion 2017 Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly by October 31 has failed.
nigerian-president-muhammadu-buhari-news-conference.There were indications, earlier, that barring any change, President Muhammad Buhari would present estimates of the 2017 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly before next Monday.
In preparation for the presentation on October 4, the President forwarded the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP), for 2017-2019, which explains fundamentals of government’s revenue and expenditure to the National Assembly in August before lawmakers embarked on their summer recess.
The MTEF is a precursor to the national budget.

Senate orders Customs to render 3 years account in 48 hours...Read It All On Tafia World

Less than 24 hours after Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun, revealed how revenue-generating agencies engage in “high level corruption” especially the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), which she described as “cohesive crooks hard to break,” Senate has commenced investigation into its activities.
The Senate Committee on Customs and Excise also dropped hints that after the Customs’ probe, it would beam its searchlight on the ports.
CustomsNigeria’s Upper Legislative Chamber has given Customs 48 hours to provide records of waivers since 2013 and also details of how it handles seized cigarettes and alcohol, record of auctioned overtime and seized cargoes.
On Tuesday, the minister said revenue-generating agencies are frustrating government with “non-remittances” which she described as a big issue.”
Regardless, Senate, through its Committee on Customs and Excise, chaired by Hope Uzodinma, has launched a comprehensive probe into  Customs’ activities with the hope of blocking  revenue leakages and enhance generation.

Banker hires assassins to kill her ex-husband...Read It All On Tafia World

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected hired-assassins and a female banker over failed attempt to assassinate her ex-husband identified as Tochukwu Onyebuchi.
The state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu paraded the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
He said the banker, Oluchi Tochukwu, hired the suspected criminals to assassinate her husband in his residence at Ayobo area of Lagos State.
Iliyasu named the two suspected assassins as Chigozie Smart (32) and Kingsley Ikechukwu (36).
He said they were intercepted and arrested on Oct. 19 at Ijebu-Ode while attempting to escape to Onitsha with the victim’s Range Rover Jeep.
He said Oluchi was arrested at Ayobo area of Lagos State.
