Ado-Ekiti- The Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti Tuesday ordered the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to “defreeze Governor Ayodele Fayose’s accounts in Zenith Bank with immediate effect. Justice Taiwo Taiwo who held that the anti-graft agency did not follow due process in taking such an action, described the EFCC action as illegal, wrongful, unlawful and unconstitutional: “I hereby give a mandatory order directing the Respondents jointly or severally to immediately de-freeze, unblock and make operational both accounts belonging to the Applicant.”Fayose & EFCC. The accounts were frozen by the EFCC in June, this year. The judge said the EFCC action breached the governor’s fundamental rights to fair hearing, as the commission did not make him a party to the proceedings for the interim freezing of the account. He said that the EFCC suppressed facts by not disclosing to the court that granted the interim freezing order that the two accounts that were frozen belonged to Governor who enjoys total constitutional immunity

A vintage fender guitar owned by legendary Nigerian musician, King Sunny Adé, was on Sunday auctioned at N52.1 million in Lagos. The guitar which was auctiond by Dr. Jogun Onabanjo, Certified Auctioneer and Chief Executive of Onabanjo and Onabanjo & Co, is known to have been designed by Nigerian artist Victor Ehikamenor. Justice O. Tokode of the Federal High Court sitting in Benin city, Edo State on Monday December 5, 2016 convicted and sentenced one Fred Okeke to two years imprisonment.Okeke was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on March 24, 2016 on a three- count charge bordering on internet fraud, false representation and possession of fraudulent documents. Buhari and Obasanjo They focused almost exclusively on the messenger, turning their nose at the message. Giving his own role in many aspects of the governance of this country, it would be hard for Obasanjo not to be put under the spotlight whenever he makes remarks critical of the country’s leaders as he has just done. People often feel obliged to criticise Obasanjo’s own record in government. While this is justified in certain instances, it cannot and should not be seen as appropriate answer to the fundamental questions of governance his lecture raised. There was too much passion in the reaction to the critical issues of the lecture than could be useful for any reasoned analysis. It was in the end a wasteful investment in emotion on the part of many of his critics especially members of the House of Representatives. The House, nettled by the lecture and no doubt smarting from the sting, was quick to respond even when its spokespersons claimed it would rather not want to join issues with Obasanjo. It nevertheless called the former president the grandfather of corruption. The response from the House is not only lame but is neither here nor there. It fails to address the question of probity raised by Obasanjo. Rapper Kanye West was released from hospital on Wednesday, according to media outlets citing unidentified sources, more than a week after he was admitted for exhaustion. CNN and the Los Angeles Times said West left the UCLA Medical Centre. Kanye West’ People magazine quoted an unidentified source as saying West was “home, getting some rest’’. Representatives for West could not immediately be reached by Reuters for comment on West’s health status or hospital release.
